Simply put, there just aren't enough exclamatory statements to describe the career of Marcy Turek. Only her numbers can tell the complete story and even they may fall short of illustrating just how dominant she was on the court as a center. How about 63 career double-doubles amongst the 114 games in which she played? The odds of Turek performing the feat on any given night turned out to be better than selecting heads or tails on a coin flip. 55 percent of the time, to be exact. Turek did not have to wait around until her senior season to reach the century mark in rebounding or scoring, either. By the time her junior year had been completed, she already held the school's top rebounding mark (1,038) and was third in scoring (1,193). For her career, she totalled 1,686 points (second all-time) and 1,360 rebounds for 14.8 and 11.9 averages, respectively. Continuing on with her scoring numbers, she turned in 29 straight games of scoring at least ten points between her junior and senior seasons and delivered 83 such games for her career. In 32 of those games, Turek reached the 20-point mark and four times tallied as many as 30 points, including a career-high 38 points on one night. Her rebounding numbers were a mirror image. She produced double-digit figures in rebounds 74 times, including six games with at least 20 boards. And, she authored her career-high of 23 caroms twice in a period of one week during her junior year. In each of her final three seasons, Turek never failed her teammates on the boards leading the way in 28 of 30 games as a sophomore, 26 of 29 contests as a junior and 24 of 27 affairs as a senior. During those same years, she ranked among the nation's best placing 8th (13.4 rpg), 7th (12.6) and 15th (11.9) over her final three campaigns. Turek boasted equally impressive numbers in the classroom graduating with cum laude honors (3.69 grade point average), while double majoring in Social Work and Psychology. With those numbers came the awards: all-conference and all-district three times, NAIA All-America Scholar-Athlete and District 20 Player of the Year twice, NCBT Bill Bradley Academic All-America and NAIA Honorable Mention All-America once.
