Initially recruited as a junior varsity player in 1983, Debbie Walsh's work ethic and attitude pushed her to become a starter on the varsity in her final two seasons with the Lady Saints. If all started with a letter to head volleyball coach Rich Luenemann following her sophomore season at CSF. Walsh wrote, "I shall be your starting setter next year." True to her word, she led the Lady Saints to their first 30-win campaign in four years (32-19), a run that would cover the next four seasons. One year later, Walsh and her teammates captured the first of five straight District 20 titles for CSF on their way to a 32-14 mark. That same year, she joined Sheavoun Pivaronas and Julie Kruger on the NAIA All-District 20 Team. A Dean's List recipient in all eight semesters at St. Francis, Walsh graduated Magna Cum Laude (3.80 g.p.a.) and was awarded the prestigious CSF Alumni Association Scholar-Athlete award. She finished her career averaging six assists, one kil and 0.50 aces per game, while recording a 94% serving percentage.
