"If any women's cross country runner deserves to be in the CSF Hall of Fame, it would have to be Diane Frericks," says Les Cox, who was Frerick's coach during her four-year District 20 reign from 1983 through 1986. Showing marked improvement each year, she finished first at the District 20 meet in each of her first three seasons, while taking runner-up honors in 1986. A four-year All district 20 choice, Frericks was a key part of a streak that still remains alive today; eight consecutive District 20 Cross Country championships starting with the 1982 season. (CSF did not have cross country in 1987 and 1988). She also earned Small College All-State honors in 1984. A runner with an excellent work ethic, Frericks was well respected by her peers as a team leader and was a pleasure to coach.
