Hall of Fame
When it comes to College of St. Francis basketball, Dave Shea is among the elite. He is one of only four players in the 23-year history of the program who have established themselves among the top ten in each of the four categories of field goals made, free throws made, scoring and rebounding. The only other players to have accomplished the quadruple feat among the 153 who have been a part of the program are Hall of Famer Bill Gerrish, Dave Wilhelmi and Jeff Craig. As for Shea, his top mark comes in the rebounding department, where he led the team in each of his final three seasons, capped off by his 186 (8.3 average) as a senior. Those two stats rank ninth and tenth, respectively, in the single season categories. The 769 caroms (7.3 rpg) that he authored during his four-year stay rank third all-time. That's followed by a fifth-place reading in career free throws made (225), a seventh-place mark in total points (1,225, 11.6 avg.) and a No. 8 ranking in field goals made (500). A three-time All-Conference selection, Shea just missed out on CCAC MVP honors as a senior, finishing second behind Northeastern Illinois' Darrell Space, who was picked in the NBA draft later that year. Shea, a forward, finished with 16.5 points that winter, which was second on the club to Billy Myers. Shea also garnered runner-up honors in scoring the year before when he averaged 10.7 ppg. Besides his career marks, Shea ranks right up at the top in terms of field goal percentage for one game (.909 vs. NEIU in 1982) and free throw percentage for one contest when he hit 18-of-19 charity attempts vs. Adrian, MI in 1983. One year earlier, he set the single-season mark for free throw percentage hitting on 81.8% of his attempts.
