Saints Compete At Grand Valley State Big Meet, Chicagoland Championships

ALLENDALE, Mich./NAPERVILLE, Ill. -- The University of St. Francis women's indoor track & field team took part in two meets on Friday, with three Saints racing at the Grand Valley State University (Mich.) Big Meet and 14 others competing at the North Central College Chicagoland Indoor Championships.  The meets were the last two of the indoor regular season before the Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference Indoor Championships commence on February 20.

Among a contingent of fifty-one 3,000-meter runners at the GVSU Big Meet, Carmen Solis recorded a personal-best mark with her time of 10:05.85.  That time currently ranks 14th overall among all NAIA competitors.

Dyannara Franco and Nicole Vollrath both raced in the 5,000-meter run.  Franco crossed the finish line in 18:00.56, while Vollrath recorded a personal-best of 18:40.30.

Fourteen Saints also competed on Friday at the North Central College Chicagoland Indoor Championships.  Jaden Hart, Patrycja Mrowca, Dianna Mascote, and Rylee Milenkovic, all placed in the Top 10 of their respective events at the meet with the latter three all recording personal bests in the 3,000-meter run.  Hart competed in the weight throw.

Mrowca placed 6th overall with her final time of 11:11.01, while Mascote (11:16.79) and Milenkovic (11:41.41) finished 7th and 10th, respectively.  Twenty-one individuals competed in the event.

Hart authored a placement of 9th overall among 25 individuals with her longest distance being 13.26 meters.

Aaralyn Martinez, Giselle Ramos, Sydney Lukancic, Lilia Hacker, Makenzie Piwcewicz, Regan Furmankiewicz, and Brooklyn Stuckey all also set personal bests on the day.  Martinez (5:44.98), Ramos (5:45.34) and Lukancic (6:17.59) did so in the One Mile Run, while Hacker (1:03.69) and Piwcewicz (1:09.60) recorded their times in the 400-meter.  Furmankiewicz (27.78) and Stuckey (32.26) raced in the 200-meter.

The Saints will compete next at the CCAC Indoor Championships, which will take place Feb. 20-21 at the Perry Student Life & Recreation Center in Bourbonnais, Ill.
