FORT WAYNE, Ind. ---
Ana Mendoza Pineda recorded a first-place finish in the 5,000-meter race at the Indiana Institute of Technology Warrior Open and seven other members of the University of St. Francis women's outdoor track & field team turned in Top 10 placements at the meet on Friday.
Pineda bested a field of 13 runners with her time of 17:39.89, while three other Saints placed among the top six in that race.
Alexia Bibakis registered a third-place finish (17:54.07), while
Olivia Bukowski was right behind in fourth (18:06.94) and
Allison Ramsey sixth (18:13.30).
Notching a pair of top performances were both
Mara Bruno and
Gianna Trenter. Bruno was second in the 400-meter dash (58.49) among a field of 19 competitors and fourth out of 31 in the 200-meter dash with a time of 25.51 seconds. Trenter was seventh in the 400-meter hurdles (1:10.75) and tenth in the 100-meter hurdles (17.35 seconds).
Emerson Colins, meanwhile, placed seventh out of 25 in the 100-meter dash (13.03), while
Ariadna Juarez was ninth in the 800-meter dash, recording a time of 2:33.23.
USF is back in action next Saturday when it competes in the Wheaton College Invitational.
