MORRIS, Ill. --- Shannon Smith recorded a runner-up finish and Taylor Petz placed among the top ten performers to lead the University of St. Francis women's golf team at the Saint Xavier University Battle at the Creek at Creek Course at Morris Country Club on Saturday.

Smith tied for second place, finishing just two shots behind individual medalist Hannah Kilbane from Saint Xavier University.  Smith tied with Saint Xavier's Emily Hunt with both players registering a six-over-par 78.  Kilbane shot a 76.

Petz, meanwhile, tied for ninth place with her 87.

Ella Oakley (108) and Laura Groos (152) rounded out USF's scoring, placing the Saints fifth in the meet.

Saint Xavier claimed the Battle title with its team score of 317.  A total of five teams and 27 individuals competed in the event.  

St. Francis is at the Judson University Spring Invitational on Tuesday.
