Saints Open USBC Women's Championships With A Split Decision

LAS VEGAS, Nev. --- The University of St. Francis women's bowling team went 1-1 on the first day of bracket play at the United States Bowling Congress (USBC) Intercollegiate Team Championships on Thursday.

The Saints gained the No. 8 seed out of 16 teams following their 24 Baker games.  USF knocked down 4,837 pins, or an average of 201.5.  McKendree University earned the top seed with its 5,243-pin count.

St. Francis opened with a 4-1 victory over No. 9 seed University of Tennessee Southern in the best-of-seven series before losing by that same count to top-seeded McKendree later on Thursday.

That moves the Saints into the elimination bracket, where they will face the winner of the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater vs. University of Maryland Eastern Shore matchup at 11:45 am Central time.
