STERLING HEIGHTS, Mich. -- The University of St. Francis varsity women's bowling team claimed a fifth-place finish out of 10 teams at the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference Michigan Open on Saturday, while its reserve squad placed fourth following three traditional and 16 Baker games.
USF knocked down a total of 2,582 pins in three regular contests and 2,814 over 16 Baker games for a total pin count of 5,396. Claiming the meet crown was Indiana Tech with 5,676 pins dropped. Lawrence Tech (Mich.) captured runner-up honors with its 5,580-pin fall, followed by Rochester Christian University (Mich.) at 5,557.
In the individual competition,
Bryanna Battles was St. Francis' top finisher, placing fourth overall in a field of 104 bowlers. She dropped 581 pins over the three games, including a high game of 212, for an average round of 193.7. Battles was named to the All-Tournament Team for her efforts.
Katelynn Statz finished second behind Battles on the varsity team and 14th overall, totaling 546 pins.
Lindsey Prosperi was third in line among USF varsity competitors, averaging 173.3 with her total of 250.
Lawrence Tech's Amelia Adams was the top individual performer with her 208.7 average. She totaled 626 pins knocked down.
On the junior varsity front, USF's team gained fourth-place honors out of seven squads with its 5,079-pin count.
Chloe Greep headlined all reserve team competitors with her 506-pin total (168.7 average). Among all bowlers, both varsity and reserve, that was the 34th-best effort on the day. Her top game of 201 was the highest showing for her this season.
Taylor Patterson finished second behind Greep and 50th overall with her total of 452 (150.7 average).
Up Next
The Saints return to action on Thursday, Dec. 18 when they travel to Las Vegas, Nev. to compete in the Glenn Carlson Las Vegas Invitational. The two-day event will conclude on Dec. 19.
