FORT WORTH, Texas -- Needing to be one of four teams to knock down the most pins over a two-day span covering 64 Baker games between Saturday and Sunday, the University of St. Francis women's bowling team fell short of that goal, needing 151 more than its final total of 11,698 to claim the fourth and final bid from the Fort Worth, Texas Sectional to the US Bowling Congress Intercollegiate Team Championships April 13-18 in Las Vegas, Nev.
North Carolina A&T State University (13,109) beat out Louisiana Tech University (12,404) by 705 pins to earn the first two berths. Newman University (Kan.) claimed third place overall with a 12,327 pin-count, while Tulane University (La.) squeezed past Oklahoma Christian University (11,849-11,789) for the fourth and final position.
Fifteen teams and 137 competitors in all made up the field.
