Women’s Bowling Places 14th At Glenn Carlson Las Vegas Invitational

LAS VEGAS -- The University of St. Francis women's bowling team finished in 14th place in the first of two tournaments out west, competing in the Glenn Carlson Las Vegas Invitational on Thursday and Friday.

Needing to finish among the Top 8 to advance to bracket play, the Fighting Saints fell short after the eight qualifying games over the two days.  Calumet College of St. Joseph (Ind.) gained the top seed with its 7,733-pin count.  Trine University (Ind.) was second (7,664), followed by Ottawa University (Kan.) (7,646).  USF completed the tournament with a total of 7,239 pins knocked down.

In bracket play, Milligan University (Tenn.) claimed the team title by defeating Northwestern Ohio University in four games in the championship match.

Bryanna Battles headlined USF's play in the qualifying rounds.  The senior averaged a 183.8 with 1,470 pins knocked down over the eight rounds to place 52nd overall.  She authored two 200-plus games topped by a 208.  Lindsey Prosperi was next in line for the Saints with her 1,316-pin total over seven contests for a 188.0 average.

Shelby Logston of Coe College (Iowa) was the top individual performer for the tournament with her 1,773 pin-count and 221.6 average, which was 91 pins better than Calumet's Ariana Woodcock.

A total of 42 teams comprising 238 bowlers made up the field.
