LAS VEGAS -- The University of St. Francis women's bowling team placed two bowlers in the Top 10 at the Las Vegas Collegiate Shoot-Out on Saturday and Sunday.  As a team, the Fighting Saints placed 4th out of 41 squads.

Falling just one pin shy of claiming a spot on the All-Tournament team and 41 pins short of the first-place finisher, Leigha Henkel paced the Saints with her 8th-place overall finish after averaging a season-best 203.6.  Two of her five games went above the 200-pin threshold topped by a 238.  She amassed 1,018 pins in total.

Also finishing among the Top 10 of all 248 bowlers was Bryanna Battles with her 203.0 average and 9th-place overall mark.  She dropped 1,015 pins over the five games, including a high game of 230.

USF recorded a total pin knockdown of 7,656 following the five team games and 16 Baker contests.  Morningside University (Iowa) led the way at 7,741 pins.  The rest of the top three had St. Vincent College (Pa.) at 7,730 and Ottawa University (Kan.) at 7,674.

As a result of finishing among the Top 8 after the five qualifying games, the No. 4-seeded Saints would be paired with No. 1 Morningside, No. 5 Trine University (Ind.) and No. 8 Northwestern Ohio University in round one of bracket play.  Needing to secure two of the top four scores in order to advance to the championship round, USF would fall short of tht mark with its score of 669.

Northwestern Ohio (815) went on to defeat Trine (764), St. Vincent (763) and Ottawa (724) for the team title in the championship match.  St. Vincent's Savannah Douglass claimed the individual crown with her 211.8 average (1,059 pin total).
