Five Saints Earn All-America Status At NAIA Indoor National Championships

BROOKINGS, SD --- Five members of the University of St. Francis women's indoor track & field team earned NAIA All-America status on the final day of the 43rd Annual NAIA Women's Indoor Track & Field National Championships on Saturday afternoon.  Their performances allowed the Fighting Saints to claim six points over the course of the three-day meet to finish in a tie for 36th place out of the 55 teams that scored.

Katherine Bakken was the first St. Francis runner to gain the honor when she placed fourth in the 5,000-meter race.  She ran a time of 17:29.73 to score five points.

Less than an hour later, the distance medley relay team of Bailey Wilk, Mara Bruno, Allison Ramsey and Ana Mendoza Pineda was on the awards stand following its eighth-place effort.  The quartet registered a time of 12:02.2 to gain USFs other point.

Ramsey also competed in the mile run earlier in the day, where she crossed the finish line in 5:04.93 to place tenth.

The championship appearance ended the indoor season for USF.  The Saints begin their outdoor season March 31 at the Washington University (Mo.) Invite.
