DAVENPORT, Iowa --- The University of St. Francis women's indoor track & field team received first-place finishes from
Ana Mendoza Pineda and
Alexia Bibakis and had 11 individuals score in all leading to a runner-up finish at the St. Ambrose University (Iowa) Fighting Bee Invitational on Saturday.
Pineda claimed her individual titles in the 800-meter and mile races, hitting the "B" standard in both events. She won the former race in 2:18.99 and the latter in 5:09.73.
Bibakis gained the top spot in the 1,000-meter race (3:11.30), while also scoring in the mile, where she placed sixth in a time of 5:25.18.
Other Saints scoring in a pair of events were
Mara Bruno,
Allison Ramsey,
Bailey Wilk,
Katherine Bakken and
Olivia Bukowski. Bruno placed second in the long jump (16 feet, 10 inches) and third in the 400-meter dash (59.01), while Ramsey landed the same finishes in the mile (5:10.12) and 800-meter run (2:24.90).
Bakken and Bukowski earned their points in the 1,000-meter and mile distances. Bakken was third in the 1,000 (3:13.94) and fifth in the mile (5:18.78). Bukowski was fourth in the 1,000 (3:14.52) and seventh in the mile (5:28).
Wilk's scoring came from her fourth-place performance in the mile run (5:15.86) and fifth-place effort in the 800-meter run (2:28.95).
Others to score for USF were
Shyasia Baker,
Emerson Colins,
Liliana Ordonez and
Kelsey Rice. Baker placed third in the 60-meter dash (8.13 seconds), Rice was fifth in the 1,000-meter race (3:16.20), Colins finished seventh in the 400-meter dash (1:03.61) and Ordonez earned an eighth-place showing in the 600-meter event (1:51.82).
Host St. Ambrose won the meet with 138 points. The Saints totaled 100 points.
St. Francis competes in the Olivet Nazarene University Walter Cramer Invite next Saturday.
