CHICAGO --- The University of St. Francis women's track & field team opened its 2022-23 indoor campaign on Friday night and brought home six Top 5 finishes from the Chicago State University Windy City Invitational.
Topping the list was
Katherine Bakken, who won the 3,000-meter event in a time of 10:11.11. That was just good enough to outduel teammate
Ana Mendoza Pineda, who was less than one-tenth of a second behind at 10:11.20.
Bailey Wilk was also part of the mix, enabling the Saints to finish 1-2-3 with her time of 10:18.65. Each of the three performers also qualified for the NAIA National Championships with their "A" standard times.
Mara Bruno, meanwhile, collected a pair of fourth-place finishes. She ran the 60-meter dash in 7.84 seconds, while covering 17 feet, 4.25 inches in the long jump.
Kaylee Holt was the other Saint to place among the top five finishers at the meet. She did so in the weight throw, where her longest distance covered 38 feet, seven inches to place fifth.
The Saints head to Michigan next Friday to compete in the Grand Valley State University Holiday Open.
