CHICAGO HEIGHTS, Ill. -- The University of St. Francis men's tennis team fell to 0-2 on the season after dropping a 6-1 decision to Prairie State College on Tuesday afternoon in Chicago Heights, Ill.
Marco Horl claimed the lone victory on the afternoon for USF. He capped the day with a straight-set 6-4, 6-2 win over Yoog Gundani at No. 1 singles. The victory was Horl's first of the season.
In the other singles matches played,
Jedriel Bondoc came up on the short end of a hard fought 6-3, 6-4 decision in the No. 2 spot, while
Lucas Fernandez-Pedrera suffered a 6-0, 6-4 defeat at No. 3.
Chase Baird registered 6-2, 6-2 scores in his loss at No. 4 and
Jack O'Donnell suffered the same fate at No. 5 with a 6-0, 6-0 decision.
Nate Monahan rounded out USF's competitors at No. 6 in registering a 6-0, 6-2 loss.
The Pioneers were able to take down the Saints in two of three double matches earlier in the afternoon. USF's lone victory came at No. 1 with Horl and Bondoc producing a 6-4 score over Ben Lawrie and Fergus Larkin. The Pioneers claimed victories at No. 2 doubles (Baird / Fernandez-Pedrera) 6-3 and at No. 3 (O'Donnell /
Justin Joseph) 6-0.
The loss put the Saints at 0-2 on the season, while Prairie State improved its record to 1-2.

The Saints will return to action on October 4 when they travel back to Chicago Heights, Ill. to compete in a tournament hosted by Prairie State College. The event is slated to begin at 10 am.
