NOTRE DAME, Ind. -- After beginning its season one week ago, the University of St. Francis men's and women's tennis programs participated in their second outing of the 2025-26 season when the Saints traveled to Notre Dame, Ind. to compete in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Central-East Regional Tournament.  Two members of the men's team and one from the women's program competed in the three day-long (Sept. 15-27) event hosted by Holy Cross College.

Jedriel Bondoc and Marco Horl each competed on the first day of singles play at the tournament. Bondoc would fall in the first round of action 6-1, 6-1 to Judson University's Niel Hentrich, while Horl advanced to the quarterfinals by defeating Missouri Valley College's Richard Tasev 6-2, 6-1.

In the quarterfinals, Horl emerged victorious again by earning 2-6, 6-2 (10-6) marks against Goshen College's Filippo Gallo.  This created a semifinals matchup on Friday with Holy Cross' Thomas Friesen, where Horl fell just short by 6-3, 7-6 counts.

In men's doubles action, Horl and Bondoc fell short in the first round 8-2 against Bethel University's (Ind.) Dimitar Berdankov and Lukas Slivas.

For the women, Anna Bintsarovskaya was the lone competitor for the Saints.  She would cruise to a first-round 6-1, 6-1 victory in singles play against Missouri Baptist University's Jocelynn Carmody, before defeating Szilvia Ferenczy of Bethel the next day with a 6-3, 6-0 decision.  From there, she moved to the semifinal round, where she lost to Holy Cross' Nicole Martinez 6-4, 6-4. 

Next Up
The men's tennis team will return to action first on Tuesday (Sept. 30) when they travel to Chicago Heights, Ill. to faceoff Prairie State College at 1 pm.  The women's team will follow suit with a showdown against Lake Forest College on Thursday (Oct. 2).  That matched is slated to begin at 4 pm.
