LOCKPORT, Ill. -- The University of St. Francis men's tennis team opened its fall season on Saturday afternoon, dropping a 7-0 decision to NCAA Division II Quincy University at Challenge Fitness.
Marco Horl captured the most games on the night for the Fighting Saints (0-1). He dropped a 6-2 decision paired with
Jedriel Bondoc in the No. 1 doubles slot before falling 6-2, 7-5 at No. 1 singles.
Bondoc had a competitive second set at No. 2 singles before eventually falling 6-0, 6-2.
Along with Horl,
Chase Baird made his collegiate debut at No. 3 singles, falling 6-0, 6-1, while
Lucas Fernandez-Pedrera came up just short with a 7-5 score in his first set before falling 6-0 at No. 4 singles.
Quincy (2-1) claimed the other two singles matches played, each by 6-0, 6-0 counts. The Hawks also won at No. 2 doubles (Fernandez-Pedrera / Baird) 6-1 and No. 3 at (
Jack O'Donnell /
Nate Monahan) 6-0.
