ST. LOUIS --- Four members of the University of St. Francis track team opened the outdoor season with their performances at the Washington University (Mo.) Distance Carnival on Thursday and Friday. Making up the group were
Jack Wright,
Sam Mickelson,
Tyler Anderson and
Scott Crabb.
Wright led the four-person contingent in the 5,000-meter race with his time of 15:22.17. That placed him 85th in a field of 300 runners.
Also ranking in the top third of finishers were both Mickelson and Anderson. Mickelson was 95th at 15:25.65, while Anderson clocked in two spots down at 15:27.
Also competing for USF was Crabb, who crossed the finish line in 15:42.45 to place 122nd.
Evan Horgan of Lewis University won the event with his time of 14:00.95.
Up next for St. Francis is the Chicagoland Championships hosted by both Benedictine University and Elmhurst University next weekend.
No team scores were recorded at the meet.
