ST. LOUIS, Mo./NAPERVILLE, Ill. -- Competing in the first two meets of the outdoor season over the weekend, the University of St. Francis men's track team saw four individuals compete at the Washington University (Mo.) Distance Carnival on Thursday, while fourteen additional Saints competed at the North Central First Chance Invitational on Saturday.
Tyler Anderson turned in the fastest time of NAIA competing institutions in the 5,000-meter event at the Distance Carnival. His recorded time was 14:50.06.
Jack Wright finished eight seconds behind Anderson at 14:58.28, and
Alberto Fernandez Arango also competed in the same event finishing with a time of 15:27.48.
Also competing at the Distance Carnival was
Scott Crabb in the 10,000-meter run. Crabb posted a final time of 31.05.18.
In the First Chance Invite,
Ellias Smith led the USF contingent with his sixth-place finish in the 200-meter race. He ran a personal-best time of 22.41 in the event, finishing .42 seconds behind the first-place finisher.
Jerrico Rodriguez placed 15th overall with a time of 23.87.
Rodriguez also competed in the 400-meter. The sophomore posted a final time of 52.25 (8th place), while
Montrell Chapman was .50 seconds behind his teammate for a 9th place finish at 52.75.
Rounding out the top finishes were
Cris Estanol and
Tizoc Landeros, who competed in the 800-meter run. Estanol placed 11th overall with a personal-best time of 2:01.47, while Landeros crossed the finish line in 23rd place at 2:04.35, also marking a new personal best.
