DAVENPORT, Iowa ---
Michael Reif headlined the University of St. Francis men's indoor track & field team's performance at the St. Ambrose University Fighting Bee Invitational with his first-place and 'B' standard effort in the 5,000-meter race on Saturday.
Reif, one of six Fighting Saints to score on the day, registered a time of 15:04.65, with teammates
Sam Mickelson and
Scott Crabb also placing. Mickelson finished fourth at 15.21.30, while Crabb was sixth at 15:36.38.
Noah Friske just missed recording USF's second individual title on the day. He finished just 0.43 seconds off the top time of 4:25.28 in the mile run at 4:25.71. Also scoring in that event were
Pedro Ocampo and
Erik Tejeda. Ocampo was third with his time of 4:30.21, while Tejeda checked in at 4:33.98 to place eighth.
St. Francis totaled 35 points on the day to finish eighth among 14 scoring teams. Host St. Ambrose captured the meet crown with its 133.5-point total.
The Saints are at the Olivet Nazarene University Walter Cramer Invite next Friday.
