NAPERVILLE, Ill. --- The University of St. Francis men's track & field team opened the spring semester of its indoor season by totaling 18 points at the North Central College Heenan Invitational on Saturday to place sixth in a field of seven teams.
The Fighting Saints' top finish was recorded by
Noah Friske, who placed third in the 800-meter run with a time of 2:00.45.
Jack Wright was two spots back in fifth place at 2:01.29.
Sam Mickelson was the only Saint to score in the mile run, placing seventh by crossing the finish line in 4:37.69.
Scott Crabb, meanwhile, produced a time of 9:08.35 in the 3,000-meter run to finish in eighth place.
USF gained its other points from its 4x400-meter relay team of
Jabreel Washington, Mickelson,
Tizoc Landeros and
Erik Tejeda. They ran a time of 3:51.76 to finish in sixth place.
Olivet Nazarene University captured the meet title with its 199 total points.
The Saints travel to Davenport, Iowa next Saturday for the St. Ambrose University Fighting Bee Invite.
