ORLANDO, Fla. ---
Sebastian Bahamondes earned a pair of hard-fought victories, but it was not enough as the University of St. Francis men's tennis team came up short in a 6-3 decision to Otterbein University (Ohio) on Wednesday morning. Otterbein improved to 6-2 with the win.
Bahamondes went to extended play before coming out on top in each of his two matches on the day. He first teamed with
Ignacio Hernandez for an 8-7 (7-3) win at No. 1 doubles. That was followed by a 6-3, 2-6, 1-0 (10-6) victory in the No. 2 singles slot.
Hernandez also battled at No. 1 singles before falling 7-5, 6-4.
USF's other victory came in the No. 3 singles slot, where
Paul Wottgen triumphed 6-2, 6-3.
The Saints (2-6) host Bethel University (Ind.) next Wednesday (1 pm) at Challenge Fitness.
