BOURBONNAIS, Ill. --- Topped by
Omar Paramo's three perfect 10's, the University of St. Francis men's track & field team had 22 different individuals earn points to land the Saints their second Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference indoor championship in school history on Saturday.
The Saints edged out host and four-time defending champion Olivet Nazarene by 19.5 points for the title. USF totaled 218 points to Olivet Nazarene's 198.5. St. Ambrose was third at 157.
Paramo totaled 30 points by claiming victory in the 1,000 and 3,000 meter races as well as the mile run. He also earned the conference's Outstanding Track Performer award by going a perfect 3 for 3 in the three events where he competed.
Both his times of 2:30.25 in the 1,000 meter and 8:30.25 in the 3,000 meter races set "A" standard marks. His time in the mile was 4:16.23.
Jordan Freese and
Carlos Martinez finished right behind Paramo in the 1,000 and 3,000 meter races, respectively, to produce "A" standard marks, as well. Freese was right on Paramo's heels at 2:31.40, while Martinez clocked in at 8:37.26. Freese also garnered a runner up placement in the 800 meter event (1:57.80), while Martinez was third in the mile (4:17.73).
Caleb Bolus and
Michael Reif recorded USF's other "A" efforts with Bolus winning the 5,000 meter race at 14:58.45 and Reif less than a second behind at 14:59.10.
Earning a "B" mark with his first place finish was
Elihu Young in the 600 meter dash, checking in at 1:22.55.
Kaizer Giddie also had a day to remember with his pair of individual titles. He won the 200 meter dash in 22.38 seconds and the 400 meter event in 50.09 seconds.
USF's other individual championships came from
Moses Biosah in the 60 meter dash (7.02 seconds) and
Pedro Ocampo in the 800 meter event (1:57.58).
Besides Freese and Martinez, runner-up finishes were notched by
Daasebre Appah-Dankyi in the high jump (6 feet, 3.25 inches),
Kenny Brown in the 200 meter dash (22.43 seconds), and
Olek Clark in the long jump (21-8). The same was true for the 4x400 meter relay team of Young, Giddie, Biosah, and Brown, which ran a 3:27.81.
Brown also earned third place recognition in the 60 meter dash (7.12) as did Young in the 200 (22.63).
Twelve Saints in all earned all-conference accolades including Paramo, Giddie, Brown and Young gaining the plaudits three times. Collecting two medals each were Biosah, Freese and Martinez, with Appah-Dankyi, Ocampo, Reif, Bolus, and Clark donning one medal.
Rounding out the list of award winners was head coach
Jeff Barker who was recognized as the conference's Coach of the Year.

The Saints close out the indoor season with a select number of individuals earning an invitation to the NAIA Indoor Championships. The three day event takes place March 3-5 on the campus of South Dakota State University in Brookings, S. Dak.
