Box Score WHITEWATER, Wis. --- The University of St. Francis men's tennis team opened its season coming away with five consolation championships between singles and doubles play at the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater Warhawk Fall Invitational on Friday and Saturday.
Gaining two consolation titles each were
Javier Alonso Egea and
Aidan Flores. The two teamed up for one crown at No.2 doubles, while also winning at No.3 and No.6 singles, respectively.
How it happened
· Egea claimed his No. 3 singles consolation championship by earning 6-1, 6-2 and 6-3, 7-6 (7) victories after dropping his opening match.
· Flores dropped his third-set tiebreaker in his first singles contest of the day at No. 6 before eventually winning his title in another third-set tiebreaker, 5-7, 6-2, 11-9. In between, he notched a 7-6 (4), 6-1 victory.
· The duo used a pair of 6-1 decisions to secure their doubles title in the No.2 slot.
· Also claiming singles consolation championships on third-set tiebreakers like Flores were
Erwan Le Guennec (No.4) and
Daniel Espinosa (No.5). Le Guennec collected a 6-4, 4-6, 10-6 win for his crown. His other victory to get to the title round was 7-5, 6-3. Espinosa notched 6-4, 7-5 and 6-4, 3-6, 10-5 wins to bring home his consolation title.

John Hejl also secured a pair of wins over the weekend to finish in third place at No.7 singles.
