Saints Drop Regular-Season Finale to Judson

LOCKPORT, Ill. --- In its final match of the regular season, the University of St. Francis men's tennis team dropped a 4-0 Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference decision to Judson University on Saturday afternoon at Challenge Fitness Indoor Courts.

After Judson claimed a win at No. 2 doubles, the tandem of Javier Alonso Egea (SO/L'Eliana, Spain) and Aiden Flores (FR/New Lenox, Ill.) was able to muster up a 6-0 victory at No. 3 doubles. All eyes then turned to the No. 1 slot where the duo of Erwan Le Guennec (SR/Ercuis, France) and Daniel Espinosa (JR/Bogota, Columbia) dropped a 6-1 decision to Judson's Chris Kerswell and Chris Veltkamp. As a result, the Eagles earned the first point of the match.

The doubles victory from Egea and Flores would turn out to be the only win on the day for the Saints. Egea nearly claimed his second victory of the afternoon after forcing a third set at No. 1 singles. However, he would drop the finale to Kerswell who earned the point for his 6-2, 4-6, 6-1 win.

Judson (9-8, 5-1 CCAC) would also earn victories at Nos. 2 and 3 singles to secure the 4-0 match victory.

The Saints (3-5, 2-4 CCAC) move on to CCAC Tournament action next week when they travel to Bourbonnais, Ill. to face No.4 seed Olivet Nazarene University. USF enters the 2 pm match as the No.5 seed.
