JOLIET, Ill. -- A two-year run as the head coach of the University of St. Francis softball program has come to an end for Alyssa Moreno, who has stepped down from the position.

"As a young coach, Alyssa made great strides in leading the program over the two years that she was with us," said USF director of athletics Dave Laketa.  "She continued the long-standing success of our program and had us on the verge of a bid to the NAIA National Tournament this past season.

"While we will miss watching her continue to develop here, we wish her and her family nothing but good things moving forward."

Moreno took over the head coaching responsibilities in the fall of 2024 and put together a 58-36 record over the next two years.  The .617 winning percentage ranks third on the list of seven head coaches in the 47-year history of the program, while her victory total ranks sixth all-time.

Moreno guided her first team – the 2024-25 squad – to the program's forty-second consecutive 20-plus win season before directing the team to a 38-win campaign last year, which ranks as the sixth highest single-season win total in program history.

In her two years overseeing the program, Moreno has mentored 15 all-conference performers, one CCAC Freshman of the year, three Gold Glove team members, and 13 conference player of the week recipients.

A search for Moreno's successor will begin immediately.
