Isabella Landeros has repeated as a College Sports Communicators (CSC) NAIA Academic All-District softball selection and was joined by teammates
Chylece Cluck,
Morgan Smardo and
Sarah Viar this year following the announcement of the 2026 academic team on Wednesday.
The award recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the field and in the classroom. To be eligible, student-athletes must be at least a sophomore both athletically and academically and boast no less than a 3.50 cumulative grade point average, while performing at an elite athletic level. Academic All-District honorees are considered for advancement to the CSC Academic All-America ballot.
Landeros closed out her career as a .377 hitter with 180 hits in 166 game played over her four seasons. She also registered 67 runs, 96 runs batted in and a .394 on-base percentage.
A starter in 143 games, the graduate senior catcher finished with a career .990 fielding percentage. In her four seasons of competition, she accumulated 831 putouts and assisted in 69 outs from behind the plate and threw out a total of 29 potential base stealers.
An all-league second team selection and Gold Glove recipient in 2026, Landeros finished among the team leaders in batting average (.380), hits (62), doubles (14), RBIs (37), total bases (81) and slugging percentage (.497).
Landeros also claimed her second NAIA Scholar-Athlete and third CCAC All-Academic team recognition earlier this month, as well. After earning a Bachelor's degree in Psychology last spring, Landeros is currently working on a Master's degree in Elementary Education Licensure.
Cluck, Smardo and Viar, meanwhile, each gained the recognition for the first time this season. It is Cluck's third academic honor this year, having received both NAIA Scholar-Athlete and CCAC All-Academic accolades earlier in May, while Smardo picked up CCAC honors earlier this month as well.
Cluck, a senior shortstop was a career .225 hitter over her two seasons at St. Francis. She appeared in all but 14 games (80 of 94) during that span of time and collected 20 hits.
Cluck successfully fielded 233 of her 246 chances defensively for a .947 fielding percentage, while totaling 114 assists and 119 putouts from the shortstop and second base positions.
Cluck earned a Bachelor's degree in Digital Audio Recording Arts this spring.
Smardo, an all-league second team selection this past spring, also produced solid numbers for the Saints from right field during the 2026 season. On the field, her statistics included a .338 batting average, 46 hits, 40 runs, 11 doubles, 3 triples, 2 home runs, 20 runs batted in and a .507 slugging percentage. She has started all 90 games thus far in her career.
Smardo is working towards a Bachelor's degree in Nursing.
Viar produced an impressive season as a first-year Saint in 2026. Those statistics included a .417 batting average, 70 hits, 37 runs, 27 extra base hits, 38 runs batted in, 18 walks, a .472 on-base average, a .601 slugging percentage, and a team-high 25 doubles - the latter of which set a new single season program high. Her numbers earned her a spot on the league's All-Conference first team and she was also named the league's 2026 Freshman of the Year.
Viar is majoring in Elementary Education and has earned Dean's List commendations in each of her first two semesters at St. Francis with a perfect 4.00 grade point average.
St. Francis, which qualified for the Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference Tournament after finishing in second place in league standings with a 20-7 record, finished the season at 38-16 overall.
The CSC Academic All-America program separately recognizes softball honorees in four divisions – NCAA I, II and III and NAIA. First-, second- and third-team Academic All-America honorees will be announced next month.
