Statz Earns Eleventh Place Finish At Hoosier Classic

INDIANAPOLIS -- Katelynn Statz and Haley Tobiasz each earned Top 100 finishes to lead the University of St. Francis women's bowling team to a 24th-place showing at the 57th Annual Columbia 300 Hoosier Classic over the weekend.  A total of 64 teams made up the field.

Statz authored the 11th-best showing among the 418 bowlers with her 214.0 average over five games on Saturday.  She was the only Saint bowler to produce a 250+ single-game round with her 254 of which she accomplished in the first game on the day.  That was one of four 200-plus games for the senior, who also recorded a 217, 212 and a 204.

Tobiasz, meanwhile, used a game-high of 226 to aid in registering a 186.2 average and finish at No. 96.

University of Pikeville (Ky.) led the top eight teams that advanced to bracket play on Sunday with its 7,994-pin count between five individual and fifteen Baker games.  That beat out Mount Mercy University (Iowa), which was 62 pins back at 7,932.  Milligan University (Tenn.) was third at 7,906.  USF totaled 7,222 pins knocked down.

In the championship round, Mount Mercy, the No. 2 seed, claimed the 2026 Hoosier Classic crown.  The Mustangs got by No. 7 William Penn University (Iowa) and No. 3 Milligan (Tenn.) before beating out No. 1 seed Pikeville in the championship match.

On the individual side, Aquinas College's Brooke Binder gained the title by producing a 224.8 average.
