ADDISON, Ill. -- The University of St. Francis women's bowling team returned from a three-week break to compete in the 18th Annual Storm Baker Challenge. The two-day tournament, hosted by Stardust Bowl in Addison, Ill., concluded on Sunday.
The Saints posted an overall pin total of 6,677 over 40 Baker games to capture third place in the qualifying round of the 8-team field. Judson University placed first overall - knocking down 7,159 pins - while Calumet College of St. Joseph (Ind.) came in second with a 6,899 total. Carthage College (Wis.) rounded out the qualifying bracket with its 6,676 finish.
In match play, the Saints fell in the first round to Calumet St. Joseph, who later went on to claim the tournament crown over Judson.
On the reserve front, USF's second team gained second-place honors out of four squads in the qualifying round with its 6,274-pin count over 40 Baker games. Facing off against Judson in match play, the Saints lost to the Eagles who went on to secure the tournament championship.
