ELMHURST, Ill. -- Led by
Scott Tumilty's first and second place finishes, 12 members of the University of St. Francis men's outdoor track & field team competed at the Elmhurst University Chicagoland Outdoor Championships over the weekend.
Tumilty authored a personal record to notch a first-place finish among 112 sprinters in the 100-meter field with his time of 10.66. He followed that performance up with a second-place finish later in the day in the 200-meter event, notching a final time of 21.96.
Montrell Chapman and
Jonathan Tavares also place in the same event, registering time of 24.29 and 24.58, respectively.
Chapman (54.67) and Tavares (55.24) each earned top 50 placements in the 400-meter race, while
Jerrico Rodriguez finished 15th overall in the 400-meter hurdles with his time of 59.38. Rodriquez and Chapman also competed in the Long Jump. Rodriguez (5.85m) placed 24th among 48 participants, while Chapman (5.75m) placed 32nd.
Rounding out the list of contenders were eight Saints who competed in the 3000-meter and 1500-meter events.
Jack Wright (9th, 8:45.34),
Sam Mickelson (10th, 8:47.11) and
Scott Crabb (12th, 8:48.48) led the way in the 3000m run, with
Manuel Soto (19th place) and
Tizoc Landeros (28th place) finishing with times of 9:03.39 and 9:18.18.
Miguel Garcia (4:16.08),
Alberto Fernandez Arango (4:17.45) and
Alex Aragon (4:40.83) each competed in the in the 1500-meter run.
