JOLIET, Ill. -- Five members of the University of St. Francis men's golf team recorded season-low rounds thus far this spring to lead the Fighting Saints to a tie for a third-place team finish at USF's own Spring Invitational on Thursday afternoon at Wedgewood Golf Course. The Saints, however, lost a tiebreaker to Elmhurst College to claim an official fourth-place finish.
Rowan Schmidt led the way with his 76 to finish in a four-way tie for 13th place overall. One back was
Nathan Lunde (t-17th place) who authored a round of 77.
Brennan Johnson (t-22nd place) was close behind with a score of 79, while
Nathan Hock (82) and
Jared Krison (86) rounded out the USF contingent finishing in t-29th and t-39th places, respectively.
The five men all made up USF's round of 314.
Saint Xavier University shot a 296 to lead the five-team field. College of DuPage was six strokes back at 302. Governors State University registered a 317, finishing in fifth place.
Aurora University, who competed only with individual players, collected top individual medalist honors courtesy of the play of Jonathan Waugh, who shot a three-under-par 68.
