ST. LOUIS, Mo./NAPERVILLE, Ill. --
Michael Reif recorded NAIA "B" standard mark in the 10,000-meter race at the Washington University (Mo.) Distance Carnival for the University of St. Francis men's outdoor track & field team, while three additional Saints competed in the 5,000-meter event of the meet on Friday. Four other Saints also competed at the North Central First Chance Invitational on Saturday. The meets were the first two of the outdoor season before the NAIA National Championships commence on May 21.
Reif turned in the second-fastest time of NAIA competing institutions in the 10,000-meter event at the Distance Carnival. His recorded time was 30:53.38, while
Scott Crabb and
Tizoc Landeros finished with times of 15:37.13 and 17:32.15, respectively, in the 5,000-meter.
Manuel Soto did not finish the event.
In the First Chance Invite,
Scott Tumilty led the USF contingent with his second-place finish in the 100-meter race. He ran a 10.76 in the event, finishing just .002 seconds behind the first-place finisher. Tumilty also placed fifth overall in the 200-meter race with a time of 21.95.
Also competing in the 200-meter were
Jerrico Rodriguez and
Montrell Chapman. Rodriquez posted a final time of 23.26, while Chapman crossed the line at 23.99.
Rodriguez (52.90) and Chapman (54.63) placed 20th and 27th overall, respectively, in the 400-meter event, while
Jonathan Tavares rounded out the USF competitors in the 800-meter race. He finished with a time of 2:12.76.
