ALLENDALE, Mich./NAPERVILLE, Ill. -- The University of St. Francis men's indoor track & field team took part in two meets over the weekend, with four Saints racing at the Grand Valley State University (Mich.) Big Meet on Friday and six others competing at the North Central College Chicagoland Indoor Championships on Saturday. The meets were the last two of the indoor regular season before the NAIA National Championships commence on February 27.
Sam Mickelson,
Manuel Soto,
Scott Crabb and
Jack Wright all competed for St. Francis in the 5,000-meter race at the GVSU Big Meet. Crabb crossed the line first at 15:04.25, followed by Mickelson at 15:08.42. Wright was not far behind with his time of 15:16.12, while Soto clocked in at 15:53.96.
At the North Central Chicagoland Indoor Championships,
Scott Tumilty,
Jerrico Rodriguez, Montrell Chapman, Chris Ogbuli, Tizoc Landeros and
Jonathan Tavares all took part in their respective events.
In the 200-meter race, Tumilty finished second in his section and 12th overall with a time of 23.06 seconds, while Rodriguez also placed second in his heat and 32nd overall after authoring a time of 23.58. Chapman clocked in at 24.48, which placed him third in his section and 53rd overall, and Ogbuli posted a time of 26.17, which was fifth in his heat and 71st overall.
Landeros and Tavares both competed in the mile run. Landeros finished 39th overall in a time of 4:51.36, while Tavares claimed 46th place after turning in a time of 5:08.38.

The Saints will compete next at the NAIA Indoor Track & Field Championships, which will take place Feb. 27-March 1 at the Alachua County Sports & Events Center in Gainesville, Fla.
Michael Reif will compete in the 5,000-meter run for USF.
