DAVENPORT, Iowa -- The University of St. Francis men's indoor track & field team registered 11 Top 3 finishes to earn 70 points and place fourth among seven teams at the St. Ambrose University Fighting Bee Invitational on Saturday.
Topping the list of performers were
Scott Tumilty and
Sam Mickelson, who each placed second overall in their respective events. Tumilty competed in both the 60-meter dash (7.01) and 200-meter race (22.66), while Mickelson took part in the mile run (4:33.10).
Recording third-place finishes on the day were
Michael Reif and
Jonathan Tavares. Reif finished just one second behind Mickelson in the mile run (4:34.10) and recorded a time of 9:00.18 in the 3,000-meter event. Tavares posted a final time of 1:30.61 in the 600-meter race.
Three Saints -
Ellias Smith,
Manuel Soto and
Jerrico Rodriguez - took fourth-place honors. Smith posted a time of 7.19 in the 60-meter dash, Soto finished the mile run in 4:34.29 and Rodriguez crossed the finish line in 54.75 seconds in the 400-meter race.
Scott Crabb garnered both fifth-place finishes for USF in the mile run (4:34.50) and 3,000m (9:10.73), while
Tizoc Landeros and
Montrell Chapman earned seventh-place nods. Landeros ran a time of 4:54.96 in the mile, while Chapman recorded a final distance of 5.73 meters in the long jump.
Landeros also secured the final point for USF with his eighth-place finish in the 600-meter dash (1:36.09).
Grand View University (Iowa) captured the meet crown with its 169.5 points.
