NAPERVILLE, Ill. --- The University of St. Francis men's track & field team opened the spring semester of its indoor season by totaling 24 points at the North Central College Heenan Invitational on Saturday to place eighth in a field of 12 teams.
The Fighting Saints had three fourth place finishes on the day, one of which was recorded by
Scott Tumilty in the 60-meter dash with a time of 6.98.
Jack Wright also earned a fourth place finish in the 3000-meter run with his final time of 8:50.28.
Sam Mickelson, meanwhile, produced a time of 8:55.53 in the same event to finish in sxith place, while
Michael Reif (8:58.54) and
Scott Crabb (9:05.39) grabbed seventh and eighth places, respectively.
USF gained its other fourth-place finish from its 4x400-meter relay team of
Jerrico Rodriguez,
Ellias Smith,
Jonathan Tavares and
Montrell Chapman. They ran a time of 3:36.85.
Rodriguez rounded out USF's scoring with his sixth-place finish in the long jump event. He finished the day with a distance of 6.45m.
North Central captured the meet title with its 221 total points.
