DAVENPORT, Iowa –
Jerrico Rodriguez headlined the University of St. Francis men's indoor track & field team's performance at the St. Ambrose University Finals Week Invite with his second-place finish in the long jump event on Saturday.
Rodriguez, one of five Fighting Saints to score on the day, registered a distance of 6.48 meters in the competition. Teammate
Montrell Chapman also placed in the event, finishing fifth at 6.24 meters.
Scott Tumilty and
Matthew Perry each registered points for the Saints, as well, in the 60-meter dash. Tumilty finished just 0.02 seconds off the second-place time of 7.06 seconds with a 7.08 final mark. Perry placed eighth with his time of 7.28.
Rounding out the scoring for the men was
Jonathan Tavares. He competed in the 400-meter dash and checked in at 55.87 seconds to place eighth.
St. Francis totaled 21 points on the day to finish sixth among six scoring teams. Saint Xavier University captured the meet crown with its 242-point total.

The Saints will take off for the winter break before returning to action in five weeks when they travel to Naperville, Ill. to compete in the North Central College Heenan Invite on January 18.
