Oscar Tejeda,
Michael Reif and
Timothy Wade all recorded NAIA "A" standard marks in the 10,000-meter race at the Washington University (Mo.) Distance Carnival for the University of St. Francis men's outdoor track & field team, while eight different Saints scored in the Invite portion of the meet to open the outdoor season on Saturday.
USF finished with 43 points in the latter meet to place sixth out of eight schools.
Tejeda turned in the second-fastest time in the NAIA this year in the 10,000-meter event at the Distance Classic. His recorded time was 30:46.28, while Reif (30:54.20) and Wade (31:07.52) were close behind.
In the Invite,
Michael Corcoran led the USF contingent with his individual title in the 1,500-meter race. He ran a 4:05.08 in the event, which featured 36 runners.
St. Francis' second-best finish was delivered by
Kendall Burrow, who placed second among 12 individuals with his throw of 131 feet in the discus.
Earning a pair of top five finishes on the day was
Adrien Manning, who scored in both the 100- and 200-meter dashes. He placed third in the latter event at 21.92 seconds, while finishing fifth in the 100 (10.86 seconds).
Other top five placements were recorded by
Elihu Young in the 100-meter race (4th, 10.81),
Darius Brown in the 800-meter dash (4th, 1:59.95) and
Pedro Ocampo in the 1,500-meter event (4th, 4:07.94).
The rest of USF's scoring came from
Noah Friske in the 1,500 (6th, 4:10.35) and
Olek Clark in the long jump (6th, 20 feet, 6.25 inches).
