JOLIET, Ill. --- The University of St. Francis men's golf team has claimed its second team title in less than a week. On Tuesday, the Fighting Saints captured their own Spring Invitational by having no player shoot higher than a 76 at Wedgewood Golf Course.
Last Thursday, USF won the Elmhurst Spring Invite.
Andrew Rada led the way on Tuesday by registering his lowest collegiate round with a 73 to place tied for third overall.
Luke Petrovic authored the same score as part of USF's second team.
Finishing one stroke behind the pair was
Nolan Weis with his 74 to place tied for sixth.
Eric Gasienica and
Nathan Lunde – a member of USF's second unit – were next in line, tying for eighth place with their rounds of 75.
John Weis closed out USF's first-team scoring with his 76 to place just outside the top ten finishers with his 11th-place showing.
As a team, USF registered a 298, 14 strokes over par. That was two strokes better than Aurora University, which carded a 300. USF's second team was third at 311. A total of six teams made up the field.
In terms of individual play, Aurora's Christian Wakeford edged out DePaul University's Alex Vekich on a tie-breaker to claim medalist honors among a field of 38 participants.
St. Francis is at the Bethel University (Ind.) Pilot Spring Invitational on Friday and Saturday.
