INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. --- The University of St. Francis women's competitive dance team opened its 2023 season at the Marian University (Ind.) Invitational on Saturday morning. Competing against five other schools, the Fighting Saints claimed a runner-up finish in the event.
Aquinas College (Mich.) was the only team to finish with a score above 80 following deductions. That squad totaled an 82.8 to win the competition by a comfortable margin.
The Saints were one of four teams to turn in sub-totals of at least 70 before deductions, but one of only two to keep that total in the final rankings. The Saints edged out Point Park University (Pa.) 73.2-72.8 for the No. 2 spot.
The rest of the scoring had host Marian at 69.7, University of Health Science & Pharmacy (Mo.) at 66.7 and Lawrence Tech University (Mich.) at 60.3.
The Saints are at the Bethel College (Kan.) Thresher Invitational next Friday and Saturday.
