NAPERVILLE, Ill. --- A pair of first-place finishes from freshman
Adrien Manning highlighted the University of St. Francis men's indoor track & field team's performance at the North Central College Snow Day Invitational on Friday. The Saints placed third among six teams scoring 67 points.
Host North Central claimed the meet title with its 256 points.
Manning captured both the 200- and 400-meter events with times of 22.89 and 50.86 seconds, respectively. He was one of four Saints to score in the latter event.
Elihu Young placed right behind Manning in 51.51 seconds, while
Richard Todd was fourth (52.9 seconds) and
Patrick Todd seventh (53.73).
Austin Hatcher also gained an individual title for the Saints. He clocked in at 8.89 seconds to win the 60-meter hurdle event.
Placing second in the high jump was
Chris Ogbuli, who cleared 5 feet, 7.25 inches.
Other scoring Saints were
Kendall Burrow,
Darius Brown,
Jonathan Gracia and
David Montalvo. Of the four, Burrow had the best placement finishing third in the weight throw with his toss of 49 feet, 3.5 inches.
Brown placed fourth in the 800-meter race with his time of 1:59.55, while Gracia and Montalvo both scored in the 3,000-meter event. Gracia finished seventh in a time of 9:19.41 with Montalvo eighth at 9:20.90.
The Saints return to action next Friday when they compete at the Grand Valley State University (Mich.) Bill Clinger Classic.
