BOURBONNAIS, Ill. --- Highlighted by a pair of first place finishes from
Daasebre Appah-Dankyi, the University of St. Francis men's indoor track & field team recorded ten top three finishes at the Olivet Nazarene University Walter Cramer Invitational on Saturday.
Appah-Dankyi was first among 12 individuals competing in the high jump, where he landed a distance of six feet, five inches. He was also a part of USF's winning 4x400 meter relay team, which had 21 teams competing in the event.
Appah-Dankyi was joined by
Elihu Young,
Kenny Brown, and
Kaizer Giddie on the relay team, which registered a time of 3:23.99.
Young was the only Saint to place among the top three in three separate events. Besides his 4x400 meter showing, he also finished second in the 200 meter dash, and third in the 60 meter dash.
No less than 70 individuals competed in the 60 meter dash with Young authoring a time of 6.97 seconds. Another 74 participants were part of the 200 meter dash, where Young checked in at 22.46 seconds.
Omar Paramo and
Olek Clark were two individuals to earn a pair of top three finishes. Paramo won the 1,000 meter run against nine other challengers with a time of 2:34.42. He was third out of 47 challengers in the mile run, clocking in at 4:22.35.
Clark was first out of 12 in the triple jump (45 feet, 0.25 inches) and third among 21 in the long jump (21-3.5).
USF also picked up a runner up finish from
Pedro Ocampo in the 800-meter run (1:58.59) and a third place effort from
Jordan Freese, who was right behind at 1:58.72.
No team scores were reported at the event.
