ALLENDALE, Mich. --- The University of St. Francis men's indoor track & field team gained two "A" standard marks and a pair of "B" standards at the Grand Valley State University (Mich.) Big Meets over the weekend.
Omar Paramo hit the first "A" standard with his performance in the 3,000 meter run on Friday. He ran an 8:21.65 to place fifth among 21 individuals in his heat.
The Saints also earned their "B" standards on Friday with the efforts of
Elihu Young and
Kaizer Giddie in the 400 meter dash. Young placed 15th out of 49 individuals with a time of 48.99 seconds, while Giddie used his 49.21 to place 19th.
Also on Friday,
Olek Clark claimed a runner-up finish among four competitors in the triple jump with his distance of 44 feet, 6.75 inches.
USF's other "A" mark came on Saturday when the distance medley relay team of
Pedro Ocampo,
Daasebre Appah-Dankyi,
Jordan Freese, and
Omar Paramo registered a time of 10:01.84. That placed them 12th in a field of 24 teams.
Young also provided a Top 5 finish in the 200 meter dash on Saturday. He was fifth among 41 participants with his time of 22.18 seconds.
