ALLENDALE, Mich. ---
Michael Reif topped the list of University of St. Francis men's indoor track & field performers at the Grand Valley State University (Mich.) Holiday Open on Friday, hitting the "B" standard in the 5,000-meter race. He was also one of five Saints to place in the Top 10 of their individual running heats on the day.
Reif fell three seconds shy of the "A" mark, which would have automatically punched his ticket to the NAIA National Championships in March. He placed seventh in his heat in a time of 14:54.19.
USF's other top performances all came in the mile run, where four Saints placed among the top seven finishers. Highlighting the quartet was
Pedro Ocampo, who gained runner-up honors with his time of 4:21.28.
Darius Brown was two spots back in fourth place at 4:23.87. Placing sixth and seventh, respectively, were
Michael Corcoran (4:24.55) and
Jordan Freese (4:24.93).
USF's next competition takes place after the holiday break when it competes at the Trine University (Ind.) Sean Brady Alumni Invite on Jan. 14.
