DAVENPORT, Iowa --- Five first-place finishes and a trio of "A" standard efforts helped the University of St. Francis men's track & field team total 86 points and earn a runner up finish at the St. Ambrose University Finals Week Invitational on Friday and Saturday. A total of three teams made up the field with host St. Ambrose scoring a meet-high 127 points.
Davual Bailey,
Carlos Martinez,
Caleb Bolus, and
Daasebre Appah-Dankyi claimed the individual titles, while the team of
Elihu Young,
Kenny Brown,
Kaizer Giddie, and
Moses Biosah crossed the finish line first in the 4x400-meter relay. Martinez and Bolus gained two of the three "A" standard marks.
Bailey edged out Biosah by one one-hundredth of a second to win the 60-meter dash in a time of 6.97 seconds. Appah-Dankyi topped the field in the high jump with his height of 5 feet, 11.25 inches.
Martinez captured the mile run with his time of 4:19.18, while Bolus did the same in the 3,000-meter run clocking in at 8:31.75. Those times represented the "A" standard marks as was
Oscar Tejeda's 8:39.41 effort in the 3,000. Tejeda also placed second (4:24.88) behind Martinez in the mile run.
USF's 4x400-meter relay team, meanwhile, hit the "B" standard with its 3:21.26 first-place finish.
