CHANNAHON, Ill. -- The No. 24-ranked University of St. Francis men's cross country team began its 2026 season on Friday evening, putting together a second-place finish at the team's 5K Fighting Saints Twilight Invite. USF's score of 61 points placed it 46 points behind of first-place finisher University of Chicago (15). A total of 12 teams and 104 runners made up the field.
USF's top five finishers, consisting of
Jack Wright,
Landin Stillwell,
Miguel Garcia,
Cris Estanol and
Spencer Moreno, paced St. Francis throughout the race and finished neck and neck all within the 13th through 19th positions. Wright (13th place) posted a final time of 16:14.27 followed by Stillwell (14th place) at 16:18.48, while Garcia (16th place) and Estanol (17th place) each crossed the line nearly at the same time at 16:19.50 and 16:19.70, respectively. Moreno rounded out USF's top five group with a time of 16:22.55, good for 19th place.
For the third year in a row,
Sam Mickelson was the top alumni performer for USF with his time of 16:06.87, ranking 12th-best overall.
The top individual performer was University of Chicago's Grant Musick at 15:31.00.
