WAVERLY, Iowa -- A trio of Top 10 finishes resulted in the University of St. Francis men's cross country team placing third at the Wartburg College (Iowa) Dan Huston Invitational on Saturday morning.
Alberto Fernandez Arango led the NAIA No. 13-ranked Fighting Saints for the first time on the season with his third-place finish. He completed the 8K course in 25:11.2. Right on his heels was
Tyler Anderson at 25:15.7 to place fourth.
Earning the No. 10 position was
Miguel Garcia. He checked in at 25:29.7. Also finishing with a sub-26-minute time was
Jack Wright. He registered a time of 25:58.5. Rounding out USF's scoring was
Spencer Moreno at 26:30.6 to place 51st.
The five-Saint contingent totaled 76 points on the day, finishing just behind NCAA I Drake University (Iowa) (52 points) and host Wartburg (60). A total of 18 teams made up the field.
Pacing the field of 261 runners was Drake's Anas Mahboub, who authored a time of 24:35.6.
