JACKSON, Mich. --- The University of St. Francis men's bowling team opened its 2026-27 season by placing sixth out of 11 teams at the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference Jackson Open on Saturday.
Christopher Bald paced the Fighting Saints, falling just seven pins short of securing an all-tournament finish. The senior placed sixth out of 137 total bowlers with his three-game total of 708 for a 236.0 average. He topped the 200-mark in each game starting with a 241 followed by rounds of 227 and 240.
Teammate
Avram Savage delivered the sixth-best single-game effort with his 277 in his middle game. He placed 27th overall with a 639 (213.0 avg.).
In between Bald and Savage was
Trevor Anifer, who finished in a tie for 23rd place. He had a pair of 223's to go along with a 202 for a 648 total (216.0).
Jacob Gunther was next in line for the Saints with his 612. He turned in games of 213, 201 and 198 for a 204.0 average.
Spring Arbor University (Mich.) claimed the team title with its 6,718-pin count. That was 13 pins better than Indiana Wesleyan University (6,705) and 23 ahead of Lawrence Technological University (Mich.) (6,695). USF totaled a 6,279.
Indiana Wesleyan's Camden Malott claimed the top individual performance. Highlighted by a perfect 300 to open play on Saturday, he finished with a 246.7 average with his 740-pin count.
On the reserve front, St. Francis finished fourth among 13 schools coming in at 6,165. Indiana Institute of Technology led that contingent with a 6,674.
Joseph Koc used a 202.3 average to lead that group.
