STERLING HEIGHTS, Mich. --
Trevor Anifer placed 2nd out of 390 bowlers to lead the University of St. Francis men's bowling team to a 15th-place team finish at the 55th Annual Midwest Collegiate Championships on Saturday and Sunday. A total of 45 teams made up the field.
Anifer authored a 228.0 average, knocking down 1,140 pins over his five individual games on Saturday morning. Of the five games, all five were 200-plus affairs, topped by a 256 effort. Anifer was named to the All-Tournament Team for his efforts.
Christopher Bald and
Jacob Gunther were the only other Saints to finish in the top 50 percent of all competitors. Bald's two 200-plus games to start Saturday allowed him to average 198.2 for the five games total, good enough for 46th place. His top performance was a 230.
Gunther finished in 165th place, while averaging a 186.5. His 235-pin total in the fifth game his best on the day.
As a team, USF totaled 7,824 pins knocked down between its five team games (4,895) and 16 Baker contests (2,929).
Savannah College of Art & Design (Ga.) earned the team title after knocking down a total of 8,647 pins. Aquinas College's (Mich.) Kyle Pranger gained the individual crown by averaging a 232.0 over his five games.

The Saints return to action on Friday, Oct. 16 when they travel to Addison, Ill. to compete in the NAIA BCA Invitational. The three-day tournament will conclude on Oct. 18.
