Pitchers
Emily Boyle and
Amia Aguilar teamed up with catcher
Isabella Landeros to author the University of St. Francis softball team's first combined no-hitter of the 2026 season in a 10-0 win before Cornerstone University (Mich.) dealt the Fighting Saints a setback on the fourth day of the Space Coast Spring Break Games with the Golden Eagles' 5-0 victory on Thursday afternoon. The Saints had come into the split doubleheader sporting a 6-1 record during the invitational, with the one loss dropping their overall season mark to 12-5.
Boyle (7-2) started the first game against Kent State Tuscarawas and struck out eight batters in four innings of work after the Saints staked her to a 2-0 lead in the initial inning. Aguilar came in to work the final frame and struck out one batter while inducing two popups.
Four Saints produced multiple hits on the day, highlighted by
Emily Hurst (3-for-4, 2 RBIs, 2 run, 1 walk) who fell a homerun shy of the cycle in the opener.
Missy Saldana also generated three hits, and
Kylie Cook came away with a 2-for-2 performance in game one.
Game 1: USF 10, Kent State Tuscarawas 0
After opening the game by surrendering a leadoff walk, Boyle went on to retire the next 12 Kent State hitters in order with Aguilar doing the same against the three batters she faced. Boyle threw 39 of her 53 pitches for strikes in registering the eight strikeouts.
The Saints (12-5) manufactured their first two runs in the first inning off of three singles, a walk and a sacrifice fly before producing five runs off seven hits in the third inning. Hurst and
Jaelynn Taylor each collected two RBIs apiece between the two innings, while Boyle,
Kamryn Koontz and Cook all took credit for one each in the third frame.
Alana Gray accepted membership into the RBI club one inning later with her single in the right center gap that drove in Landeros, who had previously reached base earlier in the inning via a double to left field.
The Saints' final two tallies came in the fifth inning when
Juliana Anderson led the inning off with her first career homerun which was followed by a triple from Hurst. Landeros would later drive Hurst home with a sacrifice fly to solidify the 10-0 final score.
Hurst, Saldana and Cook combined to go 8-for-9 as the trio produced half of the team's 16 total hits in the contest.
Game 2: Cornerstone 5, USF 0
In the nightcap, Cornerstone scored two unearned runs within the first two innings and tacked on two more tallies three frames later before putting the nail in the Saints' coffin with another unearned run in the sixth inning. USF could only counter with three hits and four walks scattered throughout the five-inning shortened game.
Morgan Smardo, Landeros and Boyle each registered one single apiece in the contest.
